Thank you all for following us and for visiting linkndrink! We’re off to a great start and our user base is already in the thousands. We had expected people to like our site but the feedback has been more positive than we could have ever imagined. One thing I’ve taken away from this process so far is the power of social media. Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook or a Message Board, we’ve had great success using all of these methods to attract new users to the site.

linkNdrink.com Launches New Website to Feed Drink and Happy Hour Specials to Users

Kansas City, MO – linkNdrink.com is a new website that is the first of its kind in Kansas City. Bar goers in the greater Kansas City area, as well as Lawrence and San Antonio, now have the ability to search for drink specials and happy hours at a one stop shop; an iPhone application is set to appear in the iPhone App Store in late January. The platforms display specials on the home page in a Twitter like feed and allow users the ability to narrow them down using searches.

Linkndrink.com makes it easy for the user to search for specials by removing all the clutter and allowing the user to use simple and efficient search functions that cater to their needs. Neighborhood searches, bar searches, and even type of drink searches can all be found on the website. President James Lake says, “Our number one goal is to give users accurate information and quick, easy access to drink specials.” His partner Travis Holt says, “the iPhone app will only make it more convenient for our users.”

The pair of entrepreneurs has been working on the idea since the middle of 2009 when they became frustrated that it was difficult to find this type of information online. “Whenever we searched the internet for drink specials or happy hours nothing came up and we ended up at the same 3 bars every time we went out,” says Lake. As they started to build the website and talk to their friends, they consistently heard similar feedback. In addition to traditional grass roots marketing efforts, the pair is relying heavy on Twitter and Facebook to help spread the word. They are currently categorized as a climber by the Twitter analytics website www.klout.com and some of their specials are being retweeted by bars and restaurants. “Our first merchant to create an account found our site from Twitter and many other bars have reached out to us via Twitter,” Holt says. There are currently over 125 bars and restaurants in Kansas City and Lawrence whose specials are listed on the site.

Very Close to Launching…

Sorry for the delay between posts, we have been very busy lately trying to hammer out all the details and finalizing the website. I’m happy to report we do have a working demo and we are getting very close to having a fully operational website. As with any new project there are many unknowns that always seem to take a bit longer than originally planned. We tried to factor these into our original time frame, but there are still some tweaks that need to solved. With that said, it looks like we should be up and running by sometime next week (crossing fingers).

Once we are “live” you will have access to over 90 bars across the KC metro area and 15 in Lawrence. We have tried to select at least a few bars in almost every neighborhood in town. We obviously have not included every watering hole, but they can be easily included if we receive feedback from individuals requesting it. As we’ve said before the goal of the website is to give you the information you want so please feel free at anytime to make a request.

We are still looking forward to having at least 1, hopefully 2 launch events once we get things up and running, but are still trying to figure out the best dates. Right now it looks like we will hold off on these events until after the holidays, but be sure to check back frequently for all the latest updates!

Midweek Update

I just wanted to give everyone an update on where we are at and where we are headed with linkNdrink. We had a great meeting this morning with a local group here in Kansas City who were very excited to hear about our idea. Hopefully we will be able to work with them down the road as we continue to grow the linkNdrink brand.

We are currently in the “information gathering” stage as we continue to grow our database so that we will be able to provide everyone with accurate and useful drink and food specials once the website goes live in less than 4 weeks! Remember to shoot us an email if there’s anything you’d specifically like to see on the site or if there’s a hidden gem you think we might miss.

As for the development of the site we have approved the final concept of the webpage and are moving forward with the build-out and implementation. As I mentioned previously we are less than 4 weeks away from unveiling the website for the consumers use. At that time you will be able to search for drink and food specials across the city through multiple search functions that will assist you in finding exactly what you want. Whether it’s a basketball game and a beer special for the guys on a Tuesday night or a wine night for the gals on a Thursday you will be able to customize your search to find exactly what you need.

Since our purpose is to let you know where the best drink specials in town are on a daily basis, we’ve decided to start now! Each day at noon we’re going to post 3 drink specials on our facebook fan page and our twitter account. We will try to reach all parts of town and all types of drinks. Of course, this is a very limited selection but we wanted to give you something. Once we launch our website, you’ll have access to a database of almost every drink special in Kansas City.

Hello, thanks for stopping by the linkNdrink blog! For those of you unfamiliar with linkNdrink.com, it will be your one stop shop for drink specials, happy hours, food specials, and live music. We will also be launching an iphone application that will allow you to access this information from anywhere, at any time, right at your fingertips.

Have you ever walked out of a restaurant and thought to yourself, “Man, I’d really like to grab a few drinks, but I have no idea what’s fun around here.” With the app in your hands you can pull up multiple bars in a predetermined radius and be on your way in minutes with a map and directions to boot. (Initially we will only offer an iphone app but have no fear, blackberry, palm pre, and many more are on their way.)

This information will be limited to Kansas City and surrounding areas initially, but our goal is to spread this website to cities nearby and eventually the entire country. This will not be possible without your support and the support of everyone else who loves to enjoy an evening out on the town without breaking the bank!
